Tulip Tree
Liriodendron Tulipifera
The Tulip tree is a distinctive larger deciduous garden tree with bluish green leaves and unmistakable tulip shaped greenish yellow to orange flowers. It has beautiful yellow fall color. They are very stately when planted in rows as avenue trees or as specimen trees in the garden.
These are long lived trees and grow fast reaching a height of about 90 feet. While they grow fast, don’t expect to see flowers for at least 15 to 20 years! Be patient. Mature trees can be very messy when flowering – best to plant them in open space away from buildings and car lots.
